Happy New Year!!!!
It’s a new year and a new century I am extremely excited about 2020 I have so much I plan on doing and completing this year.
Let’s start off by saying that priority 1 is revamping this lil ol thing I call Dash of Melanin. My goal was to have it done by the new year, but life happens so I had to push it back.
I wanted to just do a year in review for 2019 because it was definitely not my favorite year. So, I decided that I don’t want to speak about it because what’s done is done and there is nothing that I can do to change the past.
So, I want to move forward and I want you all to do the same. There is no reason at all to dwell on the decisions or choices you made in 2019 because as I said it’s done and that’s it lol.
I decided that this year I want to complete goals and not do a New Year’s Resolution because it seems that I never complete them when I make it a resolution and everyone is making them and of course by the end of January they are long forgotten about.
So I wanted to talk about my goals and what my plan is to achieve them…
The first step is to get an accountability partner, this is a person or persons that will who you responsible for your goals and just generally pushing you to become the best version of yourself. My accountability partner is my good friend Ray of BlkGirlDaily, and when I tell you she holds me responsible for all my stuff she’s for sure has helped with my journey in becoming a better person.
As a Gemini, my mind is all over the place so when I tell her my ideas she’s quick to say “girl”. Pretty much to translate it, it means your ideas are all over the place slow the hell down and figure out what you want to do. She’s such a blessing make sure you click that link above and subscribe to her blog.
In order to succeed and complete your goals write them out everywhere! I have my goals on a dry erase board, my journal (which I carry everywhere), my planner, the notes app in my phone (which also is shared with my accountability partner so she can see my progress.).
My goals so far since I started my list which was about September of last year I think is about 45% complete. So I wanted to give you an idea of what I have on my list.
- Relaunch Dash of Melanin
- Logo for my new podcast
- Launch Podcast by 2/1
- Plan content for blog & podcast
- Finally Purchase LLC
Oh yeah, I am launching a podcast next month I will have a official announcement coming soon!!!
So this is only just a preview of what my goals are when writing out your goals make sure they are clear and straight to the point. You want to make it a short simple sentence or even a short few goals.
When making the goals on your list it’s important to look at them daily even add a deadline to them so you know your goals are to be completed by a certain date. Also, don’t make your goals ridiculous make them something this is achievable. It makes no sense to make them something you know you will not complete.
Check in 1-2 times a month with your accountability partner to let them know who achieving your goals have been for you. If you know that you will miss a goal COMMUNICATE this information that way they will know.
I have a lot of goals to complete this year. One of the most important goals which I didn’t mention and it’s what I call a ” Mental Goal” is getting a better grip on my mental health. Last year closer towards the end of the year my mental health was out of wack and weekly I have been doing self care things to help including scheduling an appointment to see a therapist.
Make a mental goal you want for yourself, whether it’s a get your nails done, buy a new outfit, go get a massage you know something simple.
In review get a accountability partner meet up with them and give them your expectations with the relationship you want to build with them, make your goals achievable, and take care of your mental health.
In the comments below name one of your goals for 2020 and what you have done to complete them.
It’s 2020 let’s hit them goals sis!
happy New Year everyone, I have been extremely humbled by everyone for their continued support and this year you guys will see all my support because I will be giving back to you all. Thanks for sticking with ya girl!
